About the Vessel The New Dawn III was built in Caribou, Nova Scotia by James McKeil. She is a traditional Cape Island style fishing vessel of fiberglass construction. The Cape Island style boat is native to Nova Scotia, first built around 1905. This type of vessel is renowned for their seaworthiness, stability and ability to carry heavy loads. As a tour vessel, New Dawn III provides you with both upper and lower decks, a comfortable heated cabin, clean washroom, CD stereo system and a cooler for your refreshments. Coffee/tea is provided. Refreshments, snacks and catering available upon request.(advanced notice required). Maximum of 23 passengers. In order to operate as a passenger carrying vessel, New Dawn III carries all the latest safety and navigational equipment and undergoes an inspection each spring with Transport Canada’s Ship Safety Division. The ships Captain is licensed by Transport Canada to operate a commercial passenger carrying vessels and her crew is trained in all safety procedures to ensure that your trio is a safe and enjoyable one. Deep Sea Fishing $45.00 per person Come along with us and let Captain MacDonald and her crew show you how to fish like true Maritimers. Fishing in North Atlantic waters is very different from fishing in other parts of the world, and is an experience you won’t soon forget. Trips are four hours long. We will take you to some of the many shoals and ledges, ten to fifteen miles off Halifax, where fishing is best. All fishing tackle is provided for you along with instruction by the captain and crew in how to use it. We will be looking for Codfish, haddock, Mackerel, Boston Blue Fish, Shark and Wolffish. Keep what you catch and our crew will clean and fillet your fish and bag’em up for you. While we are making our way to and from the fishing grounds, we provide commentary on historical sites, nature, and all things nautical. Nature / Harbour Tours $25.00 per person Our Maritime Experience Tour is two and half hours long and revolves around making a life on the water and the challenges that go with it. We will take you to fishing villages, show you the how and why of shipwrecks, pirates, old wives tales and maritime lore. Observe marine wildlife in their natural habitat. Scuba Diving Excursions Scuba diving charters are available for many notable shipwrecks in the Halifax area. Private Charter $200.00 per hour, Maximum 23 passengers Charter service available for just about any type of trip you can dream up. Bachelor / Bachelorette parties, weddings, birthdays, office get-togethers educational school trios, McNabs Island service (for people and their pets).
